They are disbursing funds to the eight schools we are currently helping. These schools are in the Mutare and Mutasa districts of Zimbabwe. They are in the Eastern Highlands which run along the border with Mozambique. Mutare is the third largest city in Zimbabwe and is just a few minutes drive from the border crossing into Mozambique. | Kenyan school relocated The school at Moi’s Bridge moved onto its new site completely at the start of January. This was a few months earlier than planned. The rented accommodation being used was sold by it’s owners and the school given notice to move out. By the end of January the Gift Aid reclaimed tax arrived and meant that the extra classroom needed to accommodate the move could be finished. By the time you read this we trust that classes will be being taught in it. Below is a photo of the classroom under construction.
Maize and Beans Last years Maize and bean harvest from the land rented a few kilometres outside Moi’s Bridge yielded enough money to replant and leave enough to pay a tenth of the staffing costs for the school for the full year. This years bean and maize is due to be planted anytime now. They are planting double the amount of land this year. Let’s hope we get a good harvest in October. |
